The Gantichore people live mainly in India's southern state of Karnataka.
Once known for being thieves and pickpockets, today the Gantichore are usually agricultural day laborers and petty trade. A few have acquired their own farming land.
Traditionally they had child marriages, but now they marry as adults. Marriages are negotiated between families, and the groom's family has to pay the bride's family a bride price. Part of the marriage celebration involves a huge wedding feast. The wedding itself takes place either at the groom's home or at a public place. The Gantichore have large families.
They are open to modern conveniences like medical care, using mass media tools, improved drinking water, and electricity.
The Gantichore people cremate their dead and dispose of the ashes in flowing water. They worship their ancestors every year. They are Hindus who focus much of their devotions on Tulaja Bhawani as a deity.
The Gantichore people need to allow Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to transform their families and villages.
Pray that they will give Jesus Christ their total devotion.
Pray the Gantichore would no longer be hidden away from the influence of Christ.
Ask God to raise up Gantichore who are more desirous to know the truth than to stay on the broad road to death.
Ask God to send loving, committed workers to the Gantichore in the near future.
